I was walking a client through Pinterest today – and showing them the benefits of promoting their food products via the Pins. I noticed that the social media sharing site had become plagued with spam. With users repeating (buying repins) of a pin that had multiple keyphrases within it. This was no isolated incident and we found many cases of it.
It may be worth Pinterest adding a filter to combat keyword spam. One could be an image filter that identifies potential spam (though this may be hard to enforce), the other filter would filter by words, thus allowing only one instance of a phrase rather than multiple repeats.
